## The short version, for busy parents
- **No ads. No analytics. No tracking.** The app contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking software of any kind.
- **We run no servers.** Your child's progress never leaves your family's devices and your own iCloud account. We receive none of it.
- **We never ask children for personal information.** Not names, not emails, not anything.
- **Sign in with Apple is optional** and we request no name and no email from Apple — only an anonymous identifier so the app can confirm the same parent signed in.
- **You are in control.** You can reset progress, delete everything, or sign out at any time from the Grown-ups area.

## 1. Who we are
Beiwood Studios is an independent production studio. Mochi, our first star, is a children's app featuring stories, games, quizzes, coloring pages, and trophies for children ages 3–12. This policy explains what the Mochi app does — and does not do — with information.
## 2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies only to the Mochi iOS app. It does not apply to the Beiwood Studios website (beiwoodstudios.com), our social media pages, or any other product. Those have their own practices, described where they are offered.
## 3. What information is stored
The app stores the following **only on your device** (in the app's private on-device storage), so the app remembers where your child left off:
| What | Why | Where |
|------|-----|-------|
| Game high scores and finished games | Show best scores; award trophies | Device (and your iCloud, if signed in) |
| Trophies earned and progress toward them | Trophy Room | Device (and your iCloud, if signed in) |
| Days played (for streaks) | Streak trophies | Device (and your iCloud, if signed in) |
| Sound on/off setting | Respect your preference | Device only |
| Apple's anonymous user identifier *(only if a parent signs in)* | Confirm the sign-in is still valid | Device only |
**Important:** Beiwood Studios operates no servers and has no database. Everything above stays on your device and, if you choose to sign in, in *your own* private iCloud account. We never receive, see, or process any of it.
## 4. What we never collect
- **No advertising.** The app shows no ads and contains no advertising software.
- **No analytics.** The app contains no analytics software and sends no usage statistics anywhere.
- **No tracking.** The app does not track users across apps or websites. Its Apple privacy manifest declares tracking as disabled (`NSPrivacyTracking = false`) with no tracking domains, and its privacy nutrition label declares no collected data types.
- **No third-party SDKs.** The app ships no third-party software kits beyond Apple's own frameworks.
- **No personal information from children.** We never ask children for names, email addresses, photos, voice recordings, locations, or any other personal information.
These statements describe the app as published. If a future version ever changed any of them, this policy would be updated first and the change would be disclosed in the version history below.
## 5. Sign in with Apple (optional, grown-ups only)
Signing in is **entirely optional**. The app works fully without it. It exists for one purpose only: letting a parent sync their child's progress across the parent's own Apple devices.
- Sign-in lives behind the parental gate in the Grown-ups area — children cannot reach it on their own.
- We request **no name and no email** from Apple (`requestedScopes` is empty). Apple provides only an anonymous, app-specific user identifier.
- That identifier is stored on the device and used only to check that the sign-in is still valid — including when Apple notifies the app that the credential was revoked.
- Signing out removes the identifier from the device and stops syncing. Local progress is kept unless you also choose to reset it.
## 6. iCloud sync
If a parent signs in, game progress (scores, trophies, days played) is mirrored to the parent's **private iCloud key-value storage** — the same iCloud account signed in on that device. This sync is handled entirely by Apple between the parent's devices. **Beiwood Studios cannot see, access, or retrieve anything stored in your iCloud.** Turning off iCloud for the app, or signing out, stops the sync.
## 7. How information is used
The limited on-device information described above is used solely to operate the app's features: remembering high scores, awarding trophies, tracking play-day streaks, and honoring the sound setting. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose, and it is never sold or shared.
## 8. Sharing coloring pages
Children can color pages in the app's coloring book. Sharing a finished coloring page is possible **only after passing the parental gate**, and it uses the standard iOS share sheet — so the parent chooses exactly where the image goes (Messages, Photos, AirDrop, etc.). **The app itself uploads nothing anywhere.** Once a parent shares an image through iOS, that copy is governed by wherever they sent it, not by this policy.
## 9. Data retention
Because we operate no servers, we retain nothing on our side — there is nothing to retain. On-device data persists until you delete it (see section 11) or remove the app. iCloud-mirrored progress persists in your iCloud account until you reset it from the app or remove it via your Apple ID settings.
## 10. Security
On-device data is protected by iOS's built-in app sandboxing and device encryption. iCloud-synced data is protected by Apple's iCloud security. Because no data is transmitted to Beiwood Studios, there is no transmission for us to secure — and no Beiwood-held database that could be breached. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but the app's design minimizes risk by keeping data local and in your own iCloud.
## 11. How to delete your data
Parents can delete data at any time from the Grown-ups area (behind the parental gate):
- **"Reset all progress"** — clears scores, trophies, and play-day records on the device *and* in iCloud.
- **"Delete my data & sign out"** — does everything above, plus removes app settings and the Apple sign-in.
- **Deleting the app** removes all locally stored data from the device.
If you want us to confirm that we hold nothing about you — the answer is that we hold nothing at all — or if you need help with any of the above, email beiwoodproductions@gmail.com and we will respond.
## 12. Children's privacy (COPPA)
Mochi is designed for children ages 3–12, and we take the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously. Our approach is simple: **the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children** — or from anyone else.
**Parental rights.** Parents and legal guardians have the right to:
- **Review** any information the app stores — it is all visible inside the app itself (scores, trophies, settings) or in your own iCloud.
- **Direct deletion** of that information at any time using the controls in section 11 — no need to contact us.
- **Refuse further use** by deleting the app, which removes all local data.
- **Contact us** at beiwoodproductions@gmail.com with any privacy question or request concerning your child. We will respond promptly and will verify that you are the child's parent or guardian before acting on a request about a child's information.
**Verifiable parental consent.** Features intended for parents — Sign in with Apple, iCloud sync, data reset, and approving coloring-page shares — sit behind a parental gate (press-and-hold to enter the Grown-ups area), so children cannot trigger them accidentally. We do not condition a child's participation in any game or activity on providing personal information.
*If we ever learned that the app had collected a child's personal information, we would delete it promptly and notify the parent. If you believe this has happened, please contact us immediately at beiwoodproductions@gmail.com.*
## 13. The Grown-ups area & parental gate
Settings that affect data — sign-in, sync, reset, and deletion — live in a Grown-ups area protected by a parental gate (press and hold for two seconds to enter). This is an age screen, not a lock: its purpose is to keep young children from changing settings or sharing content without a parent present. Parents should still supervise their children's use of the app.
## 14. Third-party services
The app uses only Apple's own services, and only when a parent chooses to:
- **Sign in with Apple** — subject to [Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). We receive no name and no email from Apple.
- **iCloud (CloudKit key-value storage)** — subject to [Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). Data is stored in your private iCloud account; we cannot access it.
No other third parties receive anything from the app, because the app sends nothing anywhere except to your own iCloud when you enable sync.
## 15. California privacy rights (CCPA)
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Because **we do not sell or share personal information** — we collect none on our servers at all — there is nothing to opt out of. You may still exercise the right to know or delete by emailing beiwoodproductions@gmail.com; we will verify your identity and respond within the timeframes the law requires. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
## 16. Users in the EU / UK (GDPR)
If you use the app in the European Economic Area or the UK: Beiwood Studios is the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the app. In practice, the app processes no personal data on our servers; the limited on-device data described in section 3 is processed on the legal basis of performing the app's functions at your request. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. To exercise any right, email beiwoodproductions@gmail.com.
## 17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will post the new version on this page, update the "Last updated" date and the version history below, and — for material changes — note the change in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
## 18. Contact us
For any privacy question, request, or complaint — including parental requests under COPPA, CCPA requests, or GDPR requests:
- **Email:** beiwoodproductions@gmail.com
- **Publisher:** Beiwood Studios
- **Web:** [beiwoodstudios.com](https://beiwoodstudios.com)
We aim to respond within a reasonable time and no later than any deadline the law sets.
## 19. Limitation of liability
This policy describes our practices in good faith based on the app as published. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beiwood Studios is not liable for actions taken by Apple in connection with Sign in with Apple or iCloud, for content a parent chooses to share through the iOS share sheet, or for the security of a user's own device or iCloud account. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under applicable consumer-protection or privacy law that cannot be waived.
